Fatema is the 1st gold medalist in fencing for Bangladesh

At the 13th South Asian Games in Kirtipur Covered Hall in Nepal Capital Kathmandu on Saturday, Fencer Fatema Mujib won Bangladesh's first gold medal in women's sabre fencing competition.

On the same day two gold medals in their respective categories were bagged by Bangladeshi weightlifters Mabia Aktar Simanta and Ziarul Islam.

In the women's senior-76 kgs, Mabia Aktar Simanta clinched the first gold medal of the day for Bangladesh, while Jiarul bagged the second gold medal in the 96 kgs of men.

Earlier, on the first day of the fencing discipline of the ongoing national conference on Friday, Bangladeshi fencers clinched three bronze medals. 

The fencer Md Efta Kharul Alam Bipul was awarded bronze in the men's sabre individual and fencer Md Imtiaj won bronze in the men's epee individual.
