Despite a brilliant 54 ball-78 from the opener Naim Shiekh, on Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Rangpur Rangers granted a six-wicket defeat to Chattogram Challengers in the Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).

Amid his other teammates mindless batting, Naim stood tall to help Rangpur after 157-8, a total struggle by any means. It wasn't enough, however, as opener Chadwick Walton and Imrul Kayes battled with utmost confidence to help the Chattogram Challengers in 18.2 overs reach the winning goal 158-4.

It was Chattogram's second win in the third match, while Rangpur's second straight defeat in the tournament, having suffered Cumilla Warriors  105-run defeat in the opening match.
Walton gave the side what the side needed to get started. He shared a 68-run partnership with his fellow opener, Avishka Fernando, to give the side a decent platform.

Lewis Gregory gave the breakthrough to Rangpur, having dismissed Fernando for 37, but in Imrul Kayes, Walton got the ability to get closer to the side.

The Caribbean struck 50 off 34 with four fours and three sixes before Rangpur captain Mohammad Nabi removed Walton.

When they got the better of Chattogram captain Mahmudullah Riyad (15), who played his first match, and Nasir Hossain for 3, Rangpur got a glimmer of hope to bounce back in the match.

Kayes remained unfascinated by the fall of wickets around him and remained for the side until the last to win the game. For three fours and two sixes, Kayes wasn't out on 44 from 33.

Rangpur's innings were all about the brilliant performance of Naim Sheik, who held the side in the search for the respectable total in the middle of the wickets tumbling around him.

His fellow opener Mohammad Shahzad was out on run-a-ball-9 and in the face of some controlled Chattogram bowler bowling, headed by Kesrick Williams, the middle order couldn't survive.

For his 78 off 54, Naim hit six fours and three sixes and, despite being on the losing side, was voted man of the match. Mohammad Nabi was Rangpur's other notable ball-21 scorer while Gregory made 11.

Williams claimed that 2-35 was Chattogram's most successful bowler.
