89 held in Kurigram for betting on BPL matches

Law enforcers have arrested 89 people from different areas in three upazilas of the district for betting on Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) matches.

Thana police and Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted the anti-betting drive from Friday night on information that people were betting on BBPL matches, said sources at the police super’s office.

Of them, 18 were detained from Kathalbari Bazar and 10 from Mogolbachha areas in Sadar upazila, while nine from Moniar Haat, Chander Haat and Dighirp Par areas of Nageshwari upazila, seven from Indrarpar in Ulipur upazila, four from Choumohoni Bazar and 22 from Kazir Char in in Hatia municipality in Ulipur.
