On Saturday afternoon, Bangladesh named an 18-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies.

Two uncapped players have been included in the squad for West Indies Tests. Pacer Hasan Mahmud and his Chittagong teammate Yasir Ali Chowdhury, a batsman from the middle order, are the newcomers.

Apparently, the outstanding success of Hasan Mahmud in the ODIs against West Indies led to his maiden call-up to the Test squad.

The three-match ODI series was swept 3-0 by Bangladesh, with Mahmud making his international debut. Of the three matches, he played two, returning 3/28 and 1/54.

Yasir Ali Chowdhury, 24, has played 51 first-class matches, scoring 51.33 for 3542 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan, their ace all-rounder, recovered from a groin injury suffered in the final ODI to make the Test team, in a boost for Bangladesh.

This will be the first test for Bangladesh since February 2020, when Zimbabwe was hosted in Dhaka. From 3 February, the first game will be played in Chattogram, before the teams travel to Dhaka for the final test, starting on 11 February.
