Bangladesh Test captain Mominul Haque hit a ton in the ongoing Test against West Indies at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday.

During the 61st over of Bangladesh’s second innings in Chattogram Test, Mominul drove Rahkeem Cornwall to the off-side for a single and completed his ton. He hit nine fours to reach the magical three-figure.

It was 10th hundred for Mominul in Tests, and seventh at this venue. Along the way of hitting this ton, the southpaw surpassed Tamim Iqbal to become the holder of most centuries in the most prestigious format of cricket. Tamim hit nine centuries in this format while Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan registered seven and five respectively.

All of Mominul’s centuries came at home venues— his other centuries have been notched up at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. With his seventh ton in Chattogram, Mominul joined Michael Clarke (Adelaide Oval), Mahela Jayawardene (Galle) and Kumar Sangakkara (Galle) to score seven or more centuries in one ground. Before Mominul reached his 10th hundred, Liton Das completed his sixth fifty in Tests.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh are stretching their lead in the Chattogram Test. At the launch of day three, Bangladesh were leading by 320 runs in their second innings.

At the end of 63 overs, Bangladesh are leading by 366 runs in this Test as Mominul and Liton were batting at 102 and 65.
