With only two days to go before the start of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, batsmen Tushar Imran and Imrul Kayes tested positive for Covid-19, confirmed the medical department of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Saturday.

Tushar was listed to play for the Brothers Union and Imrul roped in by Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club.

However, both players will undergo another test today. They may join their team in a bio-secure bubble if they come out negative in the latest test.

While talking to the media, Imrul said: "I have no symptoms of Covid-19. I hope the latest test will reveal that I'm negative."

Not only them, but three club officials also tested positive for Covid-19, and they also gave samples for another test.

Earlier, nine cricketers, who had given their samples on May 26, came out positive. But they tested negative in the latest test on May 28.

Dhaka League will kick off on May 31 in the T20 format with 12 teams. The BCB has revealed the fixture of the first five rounds of the competition.

As per the fixture, six matches will take place on May 31, and on June 1, 3, 4 and 6. All the matches will be played at three different venues – Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium; and BKSP Ground-3 and Ground-4.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, all the players participating in Dhaka League are going to stay in four different hotels in a bio-secure bubble during the event.

The BCB is spending more than Tk5 crore to accommodate the players, match officials, and club officials.
