BJP wins in Karnataka state polls of India

Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party clinched victory in the state polls of the south Indian Karnataka on Tuesday, the Election Commission announced.

India’s ruling BJP's chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa was elected to the Karnataka Assembly from Shikaripura by 35,397 votes.

Yeddyurappa, 75, defeated Congress nominee Goni Malatesha and seven others in his home constituency.
