Lebanon to take more manpower from Bangladesh

Lebanon has assured Bangladesh of taking steps to import more manpower, especially the female workers and ensure salaries and other facilities for the existing Bangladeshi workers as per the government's rules. 

Lebanese labour minister Sejaan Azzi made the assurance during a bilateral meeting with Bangladesh expatriates' welfare and overseas employment minister Nurul Islam BSc at the Lebanese labour minister's office on Thursday. Nurul Islam is now on a four-day visit to the Western Asian country, according to a press release here today. 

Sejaan Azzi appreciated the Bangladeshis working in Lebanon saying that they are sincere and have skills to do their respective jobs properly. The people of Lebanon also like Bangladeshi workers, he added. 

Terming Bangladesh as a brotherly country, the Lebanese labour minister said as a developing country Bangladesh stands raising its head high in the world. 

During the meeting, Nurul Islam requested the Lebanese minister to take more manpower from Bangladesh as the Bangladesh government is providing all necessary training to the workers. The government is giving the workers clearance to go for foreign jobs after completing all formalities such as police verification, medical checkup, he added. 

After the meeting, both sides agreed to sign a MoU relating to reduce migration costs, quick import of manpower and check the influence of middlemen in importing manpower. 

Acting secretary of the ministry of expatriates' welfare and overseas employment Begum Shamsun Nahar, Bangladesh ambassador to Lebanon Abdul Motaleb Sarker, additional secretary Md Azaharul Haq and director general of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training Selim Reza and Director General of Wage Earners' Welfare Board Gazi Mohammad Julhas, among others, were present at the meeting.
