At six Delhi Metro stations, the entrance and exit gates were closed due to protests in Delhi's Seelampur area.

On Tuesday, the gates of five metro stations in Delhi, Seelampur, Gokulpuri, Welcome, Jaffrabad and Maujpur-Babarpur were shut down. Two pink line stations, Johri Enclave and Shiv Vihar, were closed moments later.

"Welcome, Jaffrabad and Maujpur-Babarpur entry and exit gates are closed. At these stations, trains will not stop," tweeted the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

In view of the demonstrations in Delhi, six metro stations were shut for up to four hours on Monday.

Thanks to a fresh rally by students against the police crackdown on the university campus on Sunday, the Jamia Millia Islamia metro station was shut for four hours. Entrance and exit from the central Delhi stations of Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Lok Kalyan Marg and Janpath are blocked for more than two hours in view of a rally at the India Gate.

On Monday night, the stations were reopened.
