Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is in a comatose condition, but his vital parameters are healthy, said the Army Research and Referral (R&R) Hospital on Thursday morning.

Mukherjee 's condition remains unchanged and continues to be on ventilation support, he said.

The former President was admitted to the R&R Hospital after sustaining a fall at his home earlier this Monday. Since a clot was found, he underwent brain surgery.

His son Abhijit tweeted Thursday asking people to avoid reporting fake news about Mukherjee 's health.

"The speculation and false news circulated on social media by renowned journalists clearly reflects the fact that Media in India has become a Fake News factory," he said.

Mukherjee 's daughter Shamistha also said that the rumors about the former president should not be published.

Mukherjee, 84, said on Monday on Twitter that he was screened positive for Covid-19.

Mukherjee, who was the India’s president between 2012 and 2017, had been keeping his public interactions at a minimal level after the coronavirus pandemic swept cross the country.
