Final clinical trials for a coronavirus vaccine, developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University, were put on hold after an adverse reaction from a participant in the UK.
In the case of "unexplained illness," AstraZeneca described this as a "routine" pause.
The results of vaccine trials are being closely monitored around the world, BBC reported.
The vaccine from the University of AstraZeneca-Oxford is seen as a strong contender among dozens that are developing globally.
Hopefully the vaccine could be one of the first to come onto the market, following successful phase 1 and phase 2 tests.
Roughly 30,000 participants in the US as well as in the UK, Brazil and South Africa have been involved in his move to Phase 3 testing in the last weeks. Phase 3 vaccine trials often involve thousands of participants, and may last for several years.
