Iran, Indonesian relief goods for Rohingya reach Ctg

A total of 48.16 tons of relief materials from Iran and Indonesia for the Rohingya refuges in Bangladesh arrived at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Air port yesterday.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Ibrahim Rahimpur formally handed over 41 tonnes of relief materials to the Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Zillur Rahman Chowdhury.

Member of Parliament Moinuddin Khan Badol was also present on the occasion. 

The relief materials included blankets, tent making equipments, edible oil and cloths.

Later, an Indonesian flight carrying 7.16 tonnes of relief materials also arrived at the airport yesterday evening.

The humanitarian assistance would be distributed among the refugees who encamped in hundreds of shelters of bordering points of Ukhia, Teknaf and Naikkhanchari upazilas. 

Earlier, 53 tonnes of relief materials from India and 14 tonnes from Morocco for the Rohingya refugees also reached the airport Thursday.

Malaysian government also sent 12 tonnes of relief materials on September 9.
