An alleged terrorist was killed in what the police called a gunfight with the law enforcement in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia early Tuesday.

The deceased is Teny, 27, son of Alam Mandal, a resident of Chatardara village in the upazila and accused in several cases including murder.

Daulatpur police station officer-in-charge Shah Dara Than said that on secret information, a team of police led by sub-inspector Rahim conducted a drive in the area around 3:45am.

Sensing the presence of law enforcers, members of the terrorist gang opened fire on police, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.

Later, police rescued bullet-hit Teny from the spot. Teny was rushed to Daulatpur hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police recovered one foreign-made pistol, a magazine and two rounds of bullets from the spot.

Three police members were also injured in the incident.
