The biometric registration of Rohingyas who escaped is going on in full swing in Cox’s Bazar.

The Department of Immigration and Passports (DIP) along with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Cox’s Bazar district administration are collecting the data at 3 registration points, according to the Press Information Department, or PID.

A total of 27,468 Rohingya have undergone biometric registration since the process started on September 11, with 3,876 registered on Thursday.

Apart from the fingerprint, important information of each refugee will be stored in a dedicated server including name, gender, age, photo, parents’ name, birthplace, nationality, country and religion

Each person will receive an ID card having a barcode containing all relevant information, which has developed the identification related software for other Southeast Asian countries.
