Microbus-autorickshaw collision kills CNG driver

A man was killed and five others were injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a CNG-run autorickshaw at Sylhet-Tamabeel highway in Jaintiapur upazila on Friday night.

The deceased is Anowar Ali, about 27 years old, the driver of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw, son of Mainuddin of Pirer Bazar area in Sadar upazila of the district.

Md Mainul Zakir, Officer-in-Charge of Jaintiapur Police Station, said the accident took place at the area around 9pm when a Jaflong-bound microbus from Sylhet collided head-on with a Sylhet-bound CNG-run autorickshaw from Jaintiapur, leaving six people injured.

Later locals rescued them and sent them to Sylhet Upazila Health complex. Anowar succumbed to his injuries on the way to the health complex.

The injured were referred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after receiving primary treatment at the complex, OC added.
