2 held with 7 gold bars at Benapole

Customs intelligence officials arrested two people along with seven gold bars worth Tk 50 lakh from Benapole check-post area in Benapole on Friday.

The arrestees were identified as Mizanur Rahman, 40, son of Abdul Mannan of Dhaka and Mahbub Alam, 35, son of Abdul Malek of Comilla district.

Tipped off, a team of Benapole customs intelligence conducted a drive in the area and arrested them around 9 am, said deputy commissioner (Customs) Mohammad Sadek.

Later, they recovered seven old bars searching their bodies.

A case was filed.
