PM mourns death of Bangabandhu's PS Onu

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep shock at the death of AM Nurul Islam Onu, the private secretary (PS) to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and founding president of US chapter Awami League.

In a condolence message today, the Prime Minister recalled with profound respect the contributions of Onu to organising Awami League abroad. 

"We've lost a dedicated politician and an efficient organiser in his death," she added.

Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed her sympathy to the bereaved family.

Onu breathed his last at the United Hospital in Dhaka this morning while he was undergoing treatment there.

He suffered a cardiac arrest on Thursday and was on life support in the CCU of the hospital.
