BBA student stabbed dead over betting on BPL

A BBA student was stabbed to death in Dhaka’s Badda area following a scuffle over betting on the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), police suspect.

Nasim Ahmed, 23, was a BBA student of Manarat University, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police said.

Nasim’s brother Fahim Ahmed told police that Nasim engaged in a scuffle with one Ramjan yesterday over betting on BPL currently going on in Sylhet.

Fahim suspected that Ramjan might have stabbed his brother as a sequel to the conflict, DC Masudur told reporters.

Nasim was stabbed around 9:30am and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

Doctors declared him dead one hour later, the police official said.
