Draft rules for lower court judges sent to SC

The law ministry has forwarded a draft on the disciplinary rules for lower court judges for the consideration of Supreme Court, Law Minister Anisul Huq said today.

After the apex court’s scrutiny, it will be forwarded to President Abdul Hamid. After his approval, a gazette will be published in this regard, the minister said.

The law minister was talking to reporters after chairing a programme organised for conclusion of a training the lower court judges at the Judicial Administration Planning Institute in Dhaka.

So far, the Supreme Court has given 26 time extensions to the government for submitting the draft rules for lower court judges. The next hearing in this issue is on December 3.

Replying to a query, Ministry Anisul Huq said the process for appointing judges to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will be initiated soon.

Replying to another question, the minister said the Anti-Corruption Commission will decide about the allegation raised against former chief justice Surendra Kumar Sinha.

Also, he said, the judiciary is going ahead swiftly after the resignation of Justice Sinha.

He hoped that the panel lawyer of the Anti-Corruption Commission will give appropriate advise to the commission for taking step about Justice Sinha.
