3 ‘drug peddlers’ held in city

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested three people along with 485 bottles of Phensidyl from Sluice  Gate area at Adabar in the city on Thursday night.

The arrestees are—Md Abdul Aziz, 52, Md Abdul Wahab, 46, and Md Mosharraf Hossain, 36.

Sources at the Rab-2 battalion headquarters said tipped off, an operational team of the battalion set up a check post in Sluice Gate area at around 10:30 pm.

As a truck carrying the Phensidyl bottles was crossing the check post the members of the elite force stopped the vehicle. They arrested the trio along with the contraband drug after searching the vehicle.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees revealed that they had been involved in supplying phensidyl to the capital bringing those from Benapole.
