Bijoy Sarker’s 32nd death anniv Monday

A two-day programme marking the 32nd death anniversary of spritual bard Bijoy Sarker will begin at the Shilpakala Academy and Shaheed Minar premises here on Monday.

Bijoy Sarkar was born in Dumdi village in the district on February 20, 1903 and died on 4the  December 1985.

Narail Deputy Commissioner Md Emdadul Huq, also chairman of Charon Kobi Bijoy Sarkar Foundation,  will innagurate the 2-day programme.

The programmes include paying wreaths, art exibition, competition of songs of Bijoy Sarker, seminar and confering Bijoy Sarkar gold medal.

The seminar is likely to be attended by Dr Pabitra Sarker, former Vice-Chenchelor Rabindra Bharati University of India.

Bijoy Sarker was awarded the Ekushey Padak posthumously in 2013.

“Ei prithibi jemon achhe temoni thik robe, shundor e prithibi chhere ek din choley jete hobe” “Tumi Jano Nare Priyo Tumi Mor Jiboner Shadhona” and many othr songs were written by the bard and baul singer Bijoy Sarker.
