Bangladeshi shot at his own house in New York

A Bangladeshi national was shot at his own apartment in Astoria area of New York City on Thursday morning.

Mohibul Islam, 52, survived the attacked, having shot in his leg. He was admitted to the local Mount Sinai hospital.

Hailing from Moulvibazar in Bangladesh, Mohibul has been living in New York with his wife and four children. 

The New York police have announced a bounty of US $ 2,500 for anyone who would help nab the attackers.

The police published leaflets containing the photograph of four attackers, collected from the CCTV footage.

A black man knocked on Mohibul's door introducing him as a courier boy at around 10:00am on Thursday. When he opened the door, the miscreant aimed a pistol at his head.

During a scuffle, Mohibul was shot in his leg. Another unidentified man was seen waiting outside the door.

The miscreants ran away immediately after the attack. Mohibul was then rushed to the hospital with police help. His condition is stable now.

Bangladeshi community in the area has been horrified by the attack.

The motive behind the attack is not known yet. The miscreants took away nothing from him. It is not sure if it is a hate crime.
