Cylinder blast kills 2 in Jessore

Two people were killed in a fire that broke out at a welding workshop in Kismat Noapara area alongside the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Jessore town on Monday night.

Identity of the two workshop workers could not be known immediately.

Assistant director of Jessore’s Fire Service and Civil Defence station, Parimal Chandra Kunda, said the fire originated from a cylinder explosion in the garage, owned by a certain Sumon in the area.

The fire then spread rapidly inside the garage, leaving two workers in the garage burnt to death at around 8:30pm, Parimal added.

Two covered vans, two trucks and a private car were also damaged in the incident.

Parimal Chandra Kunda also said the workshop did not have any approval from the fire service department.
