Rohingya man shot dead in Cox’s Bazar

A Rohingya man was gunned down by some unidentified miscreants at a Rohingya camp in Thaingkhali area of Ukhia upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Yusuf, 35, leader (majhi) of no 2 block of Tajnimar Khola Rohingya camp.

A gang of miscreant numbering 20-25 opened fire on Yusuf, leaving him critically injured, said Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police station.

Injured Yusuf was admitted to the Red Crescent hospital at the camp where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, a gang of miscreant attempted to shoot another leader Arif Ullah of Balukhali camp-2.

Later, local Rohingyas chased the miscreants and caught one Mohammad Alam along with a pistol, added the OC.

Local Rohingyas claimed that a group of Rohingyas who are against their repatriation are carrying out the attacks on the leaders of the Rohingya camps.
