Old man killed in a Rajshahi village

An elderly man was slaughtered to death at Jumarpara Ambagan area under Tanore Upazila of the district last night, police and locals said. 

The deceased was identified as Shahidulla, 65, son of late Habibur Rahman, of Nawhata area under Paba Upazila of the district.

Local people found his body lying in a pool of blood in the area around 9-30 pm and informed the nearby police station. 

Police recovered the body after being informed by locals around 10pm, said Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Tanor Police Station. "It seems he was hacked first and then slaughtered."

He said the victim Shahidullah was found dead with gashes on the right shoulder and a slit throat in a mango orchard.

The body was sent to the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College for post mortem this morning, the police officer added.
