Huge firecrackers recovered from train at Benapole

Customs Intelligence officials in a drive recovered 3.5 maunds firecrackers from a commuter train at Navaran rail station here on Wednesday morning.

Abdus Sadeq, deputy commissioner of customs intelligence, said tipped off, a team of customs intelligence conducted the drive in a Khulna-bound commuter train from Benapole and recovered the firecrackers from a toilet of the train.

Customs Intelligence officials suspected that smugglers brought those firecrackers illegally from India through Putkhali frontier.

However, no one was arrested in this connection.

The firecrackers were deposited to Benapole Customs House.

A case was filed.
