One held with 20 gold bars at Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh arrested a suspected gold smuggler along with 20 pieces of gold bars worth about TK one crore from Baro Achra border at  Benapole international check post on Sunday morning. 

The arrestee was identified as Sabuj Miah, 34, son of Shahidul Islam of Sadipur village. 

Lt Colonel Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB 49 battalion, said tipped-off, a patrol team of BGP conducted a drive here and arrested the man.

After searching his body, they recovered 20 pieces of gold bars. The seized gold bars were deposited to Benapole customs godown.

A case was filed.
