Promod Mankin to be buried at Haluaghat tomorrow

The burial of state minister for social welfare Advocate Promod Mankin would be held at Haluaghat tomorrow morning, local administration sources confirmed today.

Mankin, a Christian in belief, died of lung cancer on Wednesday in a Mumbai hospital at the age of 77. He left behind five daughters and a son to mourn his death.

The body of Mankin, a three-time parliament member from Haluaghat-Dhobaura constituency, was kept at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in capital Dhaka today to pay last homage. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Chief Whip ASM Feroz, whips, parliament members and Awami League leaders paid their respect to the deceased by placing wreaths over his coffin.

President's Military Secretary also paid last honour to Mankin on behalf of President Abdul Hamid. 

A guard of honour was accorded to Mankin while a special prayer was offered for his eternal peace.
