No banners, posters in Shaheed Minar area ahead of Feb 21: Home minister

No banners, posters and makeshift shops will be allowed in the Central Shaheed Minar area ahead of the International Mother Language Day on February 21, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said today.

“Besides, Shaheed Minar, Dhaka University and Nilkhet areas will be brought under CCTV cameras from the night of February 20 on security grounds,” the minister said while talking to reporters after a meeting at Secretariat in the afternoon.

Special security measures will be taken for the president, prime minister and foreign diplomats when they go to Shaheed Minar to pay tribute to the language martyrs, he said.

Vehicle movements will be restricted in the area and no vehicles without Dhaka University sticker allowed enter the area on the day, the minister added.
