Ambassadors from a number of countries and their spouses joined a special "Heritage Walk" on Saturday organized by Urban Study Group (USG) in Old Dhaka to see the different heritage buildings and sites from the Mughal and British Colonial periods.

The walk, organized at the request of spouses of the Head of the Missions, was led by USG volunteers who took the diplomats from Bhutan, Brazil, Brunei, Denmark, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and the EU  through the narrow lanes and by-lanes to see the hidden gems of Old Dhaka.

Newly-appointed European Union Ambassador Rensje Teerink was part of the contingent, who all brought their spouses.

At the end of the walk, there was the usual informal reception at Beauty Boarding.

All the visitors rooted for the conservation of these heritage assets.

This visit could help the policymakers to see the importance of reinstating official protection; and also extending the protection for other unprotected heritage sites and areas, said a press release.
