Jamaat acting ameer among 10 held in Rajshahi

Police have arrested 10 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, including its acting ameer, while holding a clandestine meeting in a building at Barnali intersection of Rajshahi city.

Professor Mujibur Rahman, acting ameer of central committee and Siddique Hossain of Rajshahi Jamaat unit secretary were among the arrestees.

Witnesses said that being tipped-off a number of police cordoned off the five-storey building around 9am on Monday and arrested them.

However, police did not make any comment immediately.
