Bangladesh chairs RCG for 2018

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury (Maya) handed over a crest of honour to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday, which was earned from the Regional Consultative Group (RCG) on being elected the chair of the group for 2018.

During the third conference arranged in December 2017 in Singapore, Bangladesh was awarded as the head of the group for 2018 and before that Singapore was its chair.

The multi-stakeholder group, Regional Consultative Group (RCG), on Humanitarian Civil-Military Coordination for Asia and the Pacific, was formed in 2014 to act as a regional forum that brings together the humanitarian, civilian and military actors involved in disaster response preparedness planning and disaster response in the region.

On the basis and working plan of RCG-2018, Bangladesh will direct and lead civil-military co-ordination in the case of disaster in local areas and distributing humanitarian help to them, dispensing relief and humanitarian help in the time at the time of forthcoming disaster which may be happened by chemical, germ, poison and nuclear, organising rehearsals for disaster responsive preparedness and hosting fourth RCG Conference in 2018.
