‘Robber’ killed in gunfight with Rab at Gabtoli

A suspected robber was killed and another received bullet injuries in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Gabtoli area early Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Badsa, accused in several cases with different police stations.

Being tipped-off, a team of Rab-10 set up a check post in front of Madhumati hotel of the area around 12:30am, said Mahiuddin Faruk, additional superintendent of police (ASP) of Rab-10.

Over suspicious movement, the Rab members signaled a truck to stop around 3am.

However, avoiding the signal, the robbers opened fire on the elite force, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the gun battle.

The gunfight left Badsa dead on the spot and another robber Hanif injured with bullet.

The team also recovered a revolver, seven rounds of bullets, two machetes, three sharp weapons and seized their vehicle from the spot.
