Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on Thursday said those who were involved in attacking the residence of Dhaka University vice-chancellor will be brought to book.

The DMP boss came up with the remark while briefing reporters about the security measure on the eve of Pohela Boishakh at the DMP media centre.

Replying to a question, the DMP chief said, “The way the attack was carried out seems that the attackers are professional.”

However, police are looking into the incident, he said adding: “We will find out the culprits involved in the attack and bring them to book. None is above the law and the attackers never be spared in the past and will not be spared now.”

Four cases were filed against unnamed accused following the clash and vandalism in Dhaka University (DU) campus and the VC’s house during the demonstration for the reformation of quota system in government jobs.

DU chief security officer SM Kamrul Ahsan on Thursday filed the case on charge of unauthorised entry, damage and looting goods from the vice chancellor house. The amount esteemed loss is Tk 1 to 1.5 crore.

Earlier on Monday, a group of anti-quota protesters broke the main entrance of the VC’s residence and ransacked several rooms and furniture. The angry protesters also set fire to two vehicles parked inside the VC’s residence.
