The authorities began a drive against unfit and faulty vehicles plying in Dhaka this morning.

Two mobile courts of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) were seen checking the fitness certificates of the vehicles on Manik Mia Avenue.

Mahbubey Rabbani, a spokesperson for BRTA, said that the drive began from 9:00am.

Unfit vehicles were being fined by the mobile courts in the presence of BRTA officials.

Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader paid a visit at the spot. He personally checked the fitness of some CNG-driven vehicles.

Also, he ordered to take steps against two state-run BRTC buses and a Bikash Paribahan bus over fitness issues and allegations of charging extra fares.
