Poet Belal Chowdhury passes away

Prominent poet Belal Chowdhury died at a hospital in Dhaka today at the age of 80.

Belal, who had been suffering with multiple ailments, breathed his last around noon at Intensive Care Unit of Anwar Khan Modern Hospital, according to the hospital authorities.

Hewas receiving treatment under the supervision of Prof Dr Firoz Ahmed Quraishi and was put on life support on Friday.

Chowdhury was admitted to the hospital on November 2 last year with various old age complications, including kidney problem and anaemia, sources at the hospital said.
