Bangladesh and India today struck a deal under which freedom fighters and elderly Bangladeshi nationals will get five years’ multiple visa from the neighbouring country.

The deal titled Revised Travel Agreement (RTA) was signed between the two countries in presence of Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and his counterpart Rajnath Singh in Dhaka.

Both the ministers discussed on increasing facilities at the entry points on the border, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan told journalists after the signing of the agreement at his office.

They have discussed to make student and medical visa process more easier, the home minister said.

India will extend its support to Bangladesh in tackling the Rohingya refugee issue and will work for the refugees alongside the international community, the minister said quoting his Indian counterpart.

Singh, who arrived in Bangladesh on Friday afternoon on a three-day visit, left for India at 1:00pm today.
