No arrests without warrant in election period: EC

While urging law enforcers to remain vigilant against attempts to upend law and order during election period, Election Commissioner Brig General (Rtd)w Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury on Tuesday also directed them not to arrest anyone without a valid warrant.

“None can be arrested in any false case or without arrest warrant,” the EC made this remark almost like passing a verdictwhile addressing a co-ordination meeting ahead of Rajshahi City Corporation election at Divisional Commissioner’s office of the district.

“If necessary, list of polling agents will be given to election commission and police so that they can remain safe from any harassment,” he added.

Divisional Commissioner Noor- Ur- Rahman and election commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmad, among others were present on the occasion.
