Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has canceled the route permit of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan buses.

Moshiur Rahman, chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, confirmed the information on Wednesday after conducting an operation against unfit vehicles in Capital’s Manik Miah Avenue.

The company owned the bus that took two lives on road in the capital’s Kurmitola area.

The authority took the decision amid the protests of students across the city.

Earlier on Sunday, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment School and College were killed and 12 others received injuries on Airport Road as a Jabal-e-Noor bus ploughed through a crowd, while competing with another bus of the same company on Sunday (July 29).

Since then, the students of different colleges and educational institutions have been demonstrating demanding exemplary punishment of the accused drivers and resignation of Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan.
