Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed on Friday hoped the agitating students will leave streets and return home as all of their demands have already been accepted by prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

“All the demands placed by the students have been accepted by the prime minister and she is a very kind leader …We hope the students will go back home and they won’t do anything jeopardizing the country’s reputation,” he said.

The minister said this while addressing as the chief guest a special extended meeting of Bhola sadar upazila Awami League (AL) at his own residence at Gazipur road.

Tofail ruled out any possibility of dialogue with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) at the moment. “They are talking about dialogue now. The prime minister called them for talks before the election on 5 January 2014 but they did not come.”

He warned that if the BNP does not participate in the next general elections, the party will have to suffer more.

Sadar upazila AL president and upazila parishad chairman M Mosharraf Hossain chaired the meeting.
