‘Drug peddler’ killed in Gaibandha ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha early today.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam.

Tipped-off, a team of Rab raided a house in Bamandanga area in the upazila, according to an SMS of the elite force.

Sensing presence of the Rab team, the drug peddlers fired gunshots on them while the Rab men also fired back in self-defence, leaving Salam dead on the spot.

Two Rab members were also injured, it said.

The team recovered a pistol and huge amount of drug from the spot.
