2 killed in Sylhet road crash

A pickup van’s driver and helper were killed as the vehicle turned turtle on Dhaka-Sylhet road in Lalbar area of South Surma upazila in Sylhet district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased are Al-Amin, son of Sundar Ali from Sadhurgaon village in Biswanath upazila and his helper Samsuddin, 17, son of a certain Abul, resident of Gabindapur village of the same upazila.

Locals said they saw the pickup van going upside down around 2:00pm, leaving Al-Amin dead on the spot and Samsuddin severely injured, right after crossing a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Later, they took Samsuddin to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Dakkhin Surma police station officer-in-charge Khairul Fazal said the bodies were sent to the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
