No pre-election talks with political parties: Election Commission

The Election Commission today said it will not be hosting any dialogue with political parties ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed made the reveal at a briefing after meeting the election commissioners at the commission’s Agargaon office, presided over by Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda.

He said, the election schedule is likely to be announced by the end of October and that the probable date of elections will be at December-end or the start of January.

Previously, the Election Commission had sat in discussions with political parties and stakeholders on a number of occasions to seek advice and recommendation.
