FM in New Delhi to attend Vajpayee’s funeral

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali reached New Delhi on Friday morningto attend the funeral of former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The government of Bangladesh is deeply shocked at the sudden demise of the former Prime Minister of India, said the Foreign Ministry.

Vajpayee, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), died on Thursday after a prolonged illness. He was 93. He had suffered a stroke in 2009. 

Vajpayee’s funeral will be held at 4pm on Friday with state honours in New Delhi, BJP leaders told media in New Delhi.

His mortal remains will be kept at his home for paying last tributes between 7.30am and 8.30am tomorrow morning, and then will be taken to the BJP headquarters at 9am.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where Vajpayee had been hospitalized for more than two months for treatment of a kidney infection and chest congestion, announced his death, reports AP.
