5 missing as boat capsizes in Chalan Beel

Five people including three women went missing as a boat sank in Chalan Beel area in Chatmohar upazila on Friday evening.
The missing are Abdul Billah Goni, his wife Sheuli Khatun, Shapan Hossain, his daughter Sadia Khatun and Shanaj Khatun Parul.
The boat sank around 7:30pm when a crack was created on the bottom of it, said boatman Sumon Hossain.
A group of people came to make a journey by boat with their family members in the water body, he added.
All of the boat passengers, but five, were able to swim ashore, said Tapas Kumar Paul, senior superintend of Chatmohar police.
“A team of fire service and civil defence along with the locals are searching for the missing people,” he added.
