Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday urged Indian businesspeople to come up with more investment in Bangladesh for the mutual benefits of the two neighbouring countries.

“We’ve allotted land for the Indian businesspeople in Mirsarai Economic Zone. You can invest there,” she said when a five-member delegation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, led by its President Rudra Chatterjee, met her at her Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban office.

PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters after the meeting.

At the meeting, the Prime Minister informed the India delegation that Bangladesh is providing various facilities for foreign investors.

Rudra Chatterjee said Bangladesh and India are enjoying the best-ever bilateral relations under the current government.

He mentioned that Indian investors are keen to set up manufacturing units in Bangladesh.

The Indian delegation chief said Bangladesh could import tea from Tripura which will be beneficial for the two countries. “I’d been here 10 years ago. I’m noticing huge changes and development in Bangladesh this time,” he said.

PM’s Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi and PMO Secretary Sajjadul Hassan were also present at the meeting.
