Opposition Leader Raushan Ershad on Thursday urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in parliament to take steps for keeping the Facebook blocked at night from 10pm-11pm in the interest of students.

In her winding-up speech in the 22nd session of the House, she also called upon the Prime Minister to increase the age-limit to 35 for entering government jobs and resolving the quota problem permanently through discussions.

“Smartphone and internet are being used excessively in our country leading our young generation to a wrong path as they use smartphone and the Facebook overnight instead of engaging in studies. They’re getting addicted to such activities in many ways,” Raushan said.

“So, I think, the Facebook use should be regulated for the welfare of students. I also think if the Facebook can be kept shut from 10pm-11pm, our boys and girls will read and write attentively at night,” she added.

The opposition leader urged the Prime Minister to take immediate steps. “I’m making a request to the Prime Minister for considering it (blocking the Facebook at night).
