No security threat over Aug 21 grenade attack verdict

Says CTTC chief Monirul Islam

There is no specific security threat across the country centering the verdict of August 21 grenade attack case on October 10, Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Monirul Islam said today.

However, if any quarter tries to create violence, they will be handled strictly, the CTTC chief told reporters at Crime Reporters Association.

Everyone is bound to accept the verdict of the court but Bangladesh Police will be on duty to avoid any untoward incident, Monirul, also additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said after inaugurating a Children’s Art Competition.

Asked whether there is any threat centering the Durga Puja, Monirul said, in the previous years’ only two incidents of violence occurred centering religious programmes but police force will be deployed for providing maximum security keeping in mind the worldwide situation.

In reply to another query on cyber security threat during the upcoming national elections, the police official said many tried to create trouble and break law and order during various movements using social media, therefore, police will continue to work to ensure nothing like that occurs.
