3,115 suspected criminals including 26 militants arrested

As part of countrywide dragnet against the militants, the Law enforcers arrested 3,115 people including 26 militants on various charges and seized 23 firearms in the last 24 hours. 

Of the arrestees, 2,368 people were held against arrest warrants, 38 in cases under arms act, 295 under drug act and 388 in other cases, police headquarters sources said. 

Of the 26 militants, twelve are members of the banned Jamaa'tul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), five from another banned militant outfit Hizbut Tahrir, one each from Allahar Dal, Harkatul Jihad Al Islami Bangladesh, and seven from different other militant organizations, said a release. 

However, two members of the banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) were arrested from Dhaka. 

Law enforcers also seized 23 illegal firearms including seven foreign made pistols, two local pistols, two shooter guns, two one shooter gun, and five pipe guns, 10 magazines, 18 rounds of bullet, 11 cartridges, six homemade bombs, 500 gram gunpowder, six local weapons, anti-government leaflets, and a huge quantity of drugs. 

Besides, 687 motorcycles were seized from different parts of the country in the last 24 hours.
