Close ties between sea and human civilization: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said there is close relation between sea and human civilization.
The Prime Minister said this while holding a high level meeting with 14 Coast Guard Asian Agencies on Wednesday.
Bangladesh has 915 km coast areas. People of this area’s main earning source are sea resources.
After taking power in 1996, we decided how her government can develop sea property.
In 2012, we earned our sea right as the March 2012 decision of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in the long-standing Bangladesh and Myanmar maritime border dispute opened up new possibilities for peaceful resolution of such disputes in Asia, the premier said.
We achieved the right from Myanmar and India without any clash. If we have been able to raise this sea property, we will be able to develop our blue economy, the premier said. We have decided to remove crime from sea and will creat safe sea as many crimes occurred there, the prime minister said.
